Metal Fabrication Mesa AZ
Custom steel, aluminum, and stainless fabrication for contractors, businesses, and property owners across the East Valley.
Iron FX Welding is a Mesa-based metal fabrication shop serving contractors, general contractors, industrial businesses, and property owners throughout the East Valley for over 10 years.
We fabricate custom components from carbon steel, galvanized steel, stainless steel, and aluminum using MIG, TIG, and stick welding, with cutting, forming, and finishing performed at our Mesa shop.
From structural components and industrial platforms to custom gates, railings, and architectural metalwork, Iron FX handles both one-off custom projects and repeat fabrication scopes for commercial clients.
We also offer mobile fabrication for jobs that need on-site work.
Every project starts with a written quote that breaks out material, labor, and finishing separately so you know exactly what you are paying for before work begins.

WHY IRON FX
What Sets Iron FX Apart From Other Mesa Fabrication Shops
Shop and Mobile in One Operation
Most fabrication shops are shop-only. Iron FX combines in-shop fabrication with mobile on-site capability. We fabricate components at our Mesa shop and install or weld on-site at your location. One call, one crew, no coordination between separate contractors.
Arizona Climate Expertise
Outdoor metal fabrication in the Phoenix area must account for UV exposure, extreme temperature fluctuations, and monsoon moisture. Iron FX specifies the right material and finish combination for each application: galvanized for high-corrosion outdoor use, powder-coated for UV-exposed architectural work, and painted or brushed finishes for interior and covered applications.
Written Quotes Before Work Starts
Every fabrication project at Iron FX gets a written quote that separates material, labor, finishing, and delivery. No verbal estimates. No surprises when the invoice arrives. Change orders are documented in writing before additional work begins.
All Major Metals and Processes In-House
We work with carbon steel, galvanized steel, stainless steel, and aluminum using MIG, TIG, and stick welding. Cutting, forming, fitting, and finishing are handled at our Mesa shop.
One-Off and Repeat Work Welcome
Large fabrication shops in Mesa often prefer high-volume production runs. Iron FX takes single custom projects as readily as ongoing commercial accounts. If you need one custom gate or a dozen platform sections, we quote both the same way.
Licensed and Insured
Iron FX carries full general liability insurance and workers compensation. Certificates of insurance are available before any project begins.
HOW IT WORKS
Our Fabrication Process
Step 01: Quote From Drawings or Field Measurements
Send us your drawings, a sketch, or field measurements and describe what you need. If you only have a concept, we can work from that too. We provide a written quote breaking out material, labor, finishing, and any delivery or installation costs. For repeat components, we document the spec so reorders are fast.
Step 02: Material Selection and Procurement
We confirm the right material for your application. For outdoor Arizona projects, that conversation includes UV exposure, heat cycling, and corrosion requirements. We source material from local and regional suppliers and include material cost in your quote. Mill test reports are available on request for certified material projects.
Step 03: Fabrication at Our Mesa Shop
Cutting, forming, fitting, and welding are completed at our Mesa facility. We inspect dimensions and weld quality at each stage. For structural components, welds follow AWS D1.1 procedure requirements. For architectural work, we inspect finish quality before applying any coating.
Step 04: Finishing, Delivery, and Installation
Finished components are painted, powder coated, or galvanized based on the project spec. We deliver to your location throughout the East Valley and handle installation welding on-site where required. For complex installations, we coordinate scheduling with your site supervisor or GC.
KNOW THE DIFFERENCE
Why Material and Finish Choice Matters in the Phoenix Climate
This is a question Iron FX gets on most outdoor fabrication projects and it is worth addressing directly.
Phoenix and the East Valley are harder on exposed metalwork than most of the country. Temperatures regularly exceed 110 degrees, UV intensity is extreme, and the monsoon season brings moisture and dust that accelerates corrosion on untreated steel. The wrong material or finish choice for an outdoor fabrication project can lead to rust, fading, and structural degradation within a few years.
Carbon steel with powder coat
Is the most common choice for gates, railings, and decorative metalwork. A properly applied powder coat holds up well to Arizona UV and heat when the metal is properly prepped and primed before coating. It is not recommended for applications with constant water contact or ground-level installation without additional protection.
Galvanized steel
Is the right choice for high-corrosion outdoor environments including ground contact, constant water exposure, agricultural applications, and areas where the coating may be damaged. Hot-dip galvanizing provides a sacrificial zinc layer that protects the base steel even when scratched or chipped.
Aluminum
Does not rust and is a strong choice for lightweight outdoor structures, gates, and architectural elements where weight is a concern. It costs more than carbon steel but eliminates the need for long-term corrosion maintenance.
Stainless steel
Is specified for food service environments, medical or chemical contact applications, and high-end architectural work where appearance over time matters. It is the most expensive option and is used when the application specifically requires it.
Iron FX advises on material and finish during the quoting process. We will tell you if a cheaper option will hold up or if the application requires an upgrade.
PRICING INFORMATION
What Affects Metal Fabrication Costs in Mesa?
Custom fabrication pricing depends on several factors that vary by project.
Here is what goes into every Iron FX quote:
Material Type and Quantity:
Carbon steel is the most cost-effective structural and fabrication material. Galvanized, stainless, and aluminum cost more per pound and require different consumables and processes. Material cost is quoted separately so you can see exactly what the steel costs versus the labor.
Complexity and Fit-Up Time:
A straight weld on a simple bracket takes less time than a multi-component assembly with tight tolerances. Custom one-off parts with complex geometry take more layout and fit-up time than repeat components from a finished drawing.
Finishing Requirements:
Raw steel, primer and paint, powder coat, and galvanizing each have different costs. Powder coat and galvanizing are subcontracted to local finishing shops in Mesa and are included in the quote as a line item.
Delivery and Installation:
Shop pickup is available at our Mesa location. Delivery and on-site installation welding are quoted separately based on location within our 40-mile service radius.
Rush Scheduling:
Standard lead times apply to most projects. Expedited fabrication for tight construction schedules is available and quoted accordingly.
